Historical Background

Baropobo Women's Group was founded in 1996 with the aim of improving the standard of living of women, men, youths, persons with disabilities, persons living with HIV/AIDS and children whose parents died from HIV/AIDS, widows, the victimized and disadvantaged children who lost their parents during the war between the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) rebel group and the Government of Uganda, which started in 1986 in Northern Uganda and has now lasted 20 years.


Widows being trained in Animal Traction; using oxen to reduce the workload while improving agricultural productivity using appropriate technologies for subsistance farmers.
